The two vehicles that are being compared today are the most popular electric trucks in Quebec. However, there are two ways to approach this: you can choose the legendary ruggedness of the Ford-150 Lightning, the best-selling truck in the world in 2021, or you can choose the Cybertruck, the brainchild of Elon Musk’s Tesla team. Today, We introduce you to their features.
These two stars of the road have identical entry-level prices (53,000 CAD), while the more powerful models go for 117,000 CAD for the Ford F-150 and 100,000 CAD for the Cybertruck.
Under the hood of the Ford F-150 is a monster that ranges from 426 to 563 horsepower. If the figures are not available for Tesla, its electric motor offers a similar power, with a battery ranging from 100 to 200 kWh.
n the 60-mile-per-hour test, both trucks pull off the risky all-electric gamble without sacrificing performance. The Ford F-150 Lightning will propel you to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, while the Tesla’s performance varies depending on the engine range (6.5 seconds for the base engine, and an impressive 3 seconds for the most powerful engine in the range).
It’s impossible to compare the two machines without mentioning their autonomy. While there is a clear advantage for Tesla, which can cover up to 500 miles on a single charge, the Ford Lightning still gets 300 miles for its most powerful electric motor, which is still perfectly acceptable in the electric truck competition.
Between the two vehicles, we shift from one world to another: the Ford F-150 is instantly recognizable with its clean, flowing lines, while Tesla’s Cybertruck offers a radical design that is reminiscent of a moon vehicle. Individual tastes will play a big role in here, while you’ll be able to choose between the clean lines of the Ford F-150 and the futuristic look of Tesla’s truck.
We have to say that the Tesla is more versatile than the Ford F-150, with a cabin that can seats six comfortably. Again, it’s all a matter of taste and need, but both trucks are equally suitable for professionals and families. The Ford F-150 stands out with an LCD screen that acts as a dashboard by mixing analog controls. Tesla, on the other hand, goes all-electronic with an LCD control surface, a choice that will appeal to many.
The Ford F-150 wins hands down in towing capacity with a towing capacity of 4.5 tons (10,000 lbs), while Tesla tops out at 3.4 tons (7,500 lbs). These impressive numbers can satisfy any working enthusiast. We should note, however, that the interior of Tesla’s Cyber Truck is fully configurable. With a very advanced customization concept, you can turn your truck into a camping space with the right accessories.
