The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R takes the F-150 Raptor lineup to another level! Indeed, the all-new model of the off-road pickup truck specially designed for off-road driving shows breathtaking performance. Let’s review the improvements over the 2022 model.
The 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor was already equipped with a third-generation 3.5L EcoBoost® TwinTurbocharged V6 engine that produces 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. The 2023 Ford F-150 goes much further, with a 5.2L supercharged V8 model that delivers 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque.
This new model meets the expectations of customers who have been praising the sound and power of the V8 engine, a feature already found in the Mustang Shelby GT500. This V8 engine has been slightly reworked by the brand to feature a deeper oil pan, as well as a specific oil filter and cooler, perfect for flawless driving on aggressive grades and keeping the engine oil cool.
Beyond its extremely capable engine, the new Ford F-150 Raptor R features a five-link rear suspension with Panhard bar and advanced FOX Live Valve shocks. The extra-long longitudinal arms of the suspension hold the vehicle’s axle in place no matter what terrain you’re traversing, and the shocks’ automatically controlled height sensors allow for live suspension adjustment. It’s also worth mentioning that the model has best-in-class ground clearance, coupled with standard 37″ tires. Such a suspension gives you stability and a comfortable ride. The 2023 Ford F-150 is optimized for long driving sessions on desert roads.
To go along with the V8 engine and heavy-duty suspension of this brand new model, the 2023 Raptor R has a unique and iconic style reminiscent of desert predators. Note the bulging hood, which is one inch taller than the 2022 model, allowing for aggressive styling while facilitating hot air extraction. Black dominates the grille, bumpers and fender flares, as well as the sophisticated interior. Finally, distinctive orange accents subtly dot the vehicle, including the R monogram located on the grille. All these great features make this brand new model the new benchmark for desert driving, perfect for getting around efficiently in the demanding conditions of the Canadian winter. Orders for the new Ford in Laval have been open since July 2022, and production is expected to begin in the fall of 2022.
