As expected, the compact Ford Maverick pickup remains a very popular choice. Although Ford has been taking orders for the 2024 model since last July, for now, the automaker is prioritizing those clients who have reserved a 2023 Maverick. It’s fitting to mention that the gasoline-powered entry-level model of the pickup is the most affordable vehicle in the Ford lineup.
Consequently, two out of three Maverick buyers are opting for this 2.0 L inline-four EcoBoost turbo engine (250 hp/277 lbf·ft). Considering this high demand, the automaker is tackling the most pressing matter first, installing it under the hood. This means that the very economical standard hybrid version—the least expensive of its kind on the market—has had to take a back seat.
Another bit of news for 2024 is that Canadian consumers, like their US counterparts, can now opt for front-wheel drive with the turbo powertrain. However, all-wheel drive is still available. Meanwhile, the available hybrid version will continue to be two-wheel drive.
The 2024 Ford Maverick will resemble the current model. With the exception of a couple of new exterior paint colors (Terrain and Azure Grey), no major changes are in sight.
Ford has also simplified the options and packages. For example, the premium Lariat trim level will come standard with the luxury package (including a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a 400 W converter and navigation). The Tremor off-road package will be on the menu, as well.
With the FLEXBED system, owners can mount several well-conceived solutions directly in the bed of the 2024 Ford Maverick. As a result, they can customize and optimize storage, transport and overall use of the cargo area. In fact, the manufacturer has designed more than 150 different accessories.
The modernized cab is certainly pleasant. It includes a number of features from the Co-Pilot 360 suite of driver assist technologies. Notable among them are Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, the Lane-Keeping System, Automatic Emergency Braking and Cross-Traffic Alert.
