You’ve been awaiting it for almost a quarter of a century, and now it’s back: say hello to the all-new 2021 Ford Bronco and its subcompact SUV version, the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport, which will soon be making their appearance at 440 Ford, your Ford dealer in Laval near the North Shore of Montreal! A rugged Ford SUV with exceptional off-road capabilities, the Bronco promises to give its main competitor, the Jeep Wrangler, a tough time. But what are the differences between the Bronco and the Bronco Sport, and in particular, which one will best meet your needs and your budget? Read on to learn more about the Ford Bronco specifications!
The Ford Bronco has a base price of $40,499 on the Canadian market and is available in 6 versions: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands and WildTrack.
Each of these models can be ordered in 2-door or 4-door versions and, just like its Jeep rival, these doors can be removed, as can the roof. What is more, the Bronco offers the only frameless doors in its class and can be fitted with 30”, 32” or 35” tires, depending on the version and options you choose.
You have two choices: a 2.3-litre EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower—the most powerful engine in its class—paired with a 7-speed manual transmission, or a 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 generating 310 horsepower and coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Whichever engine you choose, the Ford Bronco will have a towing capacity of 1,588 kg or 3,500 lb.
The Bronco has 5 standard drive modes, namely Sand, Slippery, Sport, Eco and Normal. If you opt for the Badlands model, the Baja mode will substitute the Sport mode, while 2 more drive modes are added: Rock Crawl and Mud/Rut. And the Bronco is not done surprising you; it could feature the best ground clearance in its class at 29 cm (11.6 inches) and offer the best water-fording capacity in its segment with an impressive 85 cm (33.5 inches), while offering the best maximum departure and breakover angles in its class (37.2 and 29.0 degrees respectively). On top of that, you will be able to opt for Trail 1-pedal Drive and enjoy the available Trail Control and Trail Turn Assist technologies.
The exact release date of the Ford Bronco is not yet known, but it is expected to arrive at 440 Ford in Laval in the spring of 2021. Book a test drive of the 2021 Ford Bronco
Little sibling of the Bronco, the Bronco Sport is not to be outdone, despite its compact dimensions! Offered at a starting price of only $32,199, the Bronco Sport is available in 4 models: Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks and Badlands.
The square and robust lines of the Bronco Sport do not go unnoticed on the road, no matter which version you choose. What’s more, you’ll have the choice between many exterior colors, each one more vibrant than the next. In addition, its roof rack can support up to 150 pounds and its sturdy and resistant steel top will be able to support a maximum weight of 600 pounds, should you want to put your tent on the roof for example.
Under the hood, the Bronco Sport can house a 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine with an output of 181 horsepower, or a 2.0-litre EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine that generates 250 horsepower, the latter being the most powerful in its class. Depending on the model you choose, your Bronco Sport will be able to tow between 907 and 997 kg (2,000 and 2,200 lb).
Small but powerful, the Bronco Sport features the best approach and departure angles in its class, with respectively 29.9 and 32.8 degrees. In addition, it offers a fording capacity of 23.6 inches as well as a most efficient H.O.S.S. suspension. Get off the beaten path; your Bronco Sport will thank you!
