A Slightly Different 2024 Ford Explorer

2024 Ford Explorer

As Ford’s smaller midsize SUV with 3 rows of seats, the 2024 Explorer maintains its overall shape compared to the previous model. However, aesthetic refinements are evident on the exterior, notably in the bumper, a larger grille, headlights, and taillights. Inside, the dashboard has been revised, and the horizontally placed touchscreen between the air vents now hosts more controls.

An important change for 2024 is the discontinuation of the hybrid version. The manufacturer offers this engine type in several other models. However, an all-electric Explorer might arrive in 2025, featuring more significant body modifications. This is yet to be confirmed.

The Proven Mechanics of the 2024 Ford Explorer

The 2024 Ford Explorer comes in XLT, ST-Line, Timberline, Limited, ST, and Platinum versions. All come standard with the A10 transmission, all-wheel drive, and four-wheel disc brakes. Two engines are available: a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 producing 300 hp / 310 lb-ft of torque with a combined driving consumption of 10.3 L/100 km. The other engine is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 generating 356 hp / 380 lb-ft of torque, while on the ST version, the same engine reaches 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Fuel consumption hovers around 12 L/100 km (city and highway).

The Explorer can accommodate 6 passengers, with a cargo space of 515 liters that expands to 2,486 liters with the rear seats folded. Its maximum towing capacity is 5,600 lbs (with the V6 engine).

A Respected SUV for What It Offers

The 2024 Ford Explorer starts at $48,340 (MSRP). The top-tier version (Platinum) has an MSRP of $67,905. In the mid-level version (Timberline), the Explorer includes 18-inch aluminum wheels, black grille and lower body, power liftgate, LED headlights and brake lights, SiriusXM, SYNC 3 system, dual LCD screens, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, wireless internet access, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, intelligent key, adaptive cruise control. Regarding safety features, it includes the Terrain Management System, intrusion beams, BLIS blind-spot monitoring, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Keeping Alert, cameras with cleaning system, and more.
