The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse is the blue oval’s latest expression of power and driving pleasure. This sport coupe boasts features making it equally adept at tackling the most demanding racetracks or pleasing those looking for an invigorating driving experience on the road.
There’s no denying that the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse is well bred. It shares its structure and platform with the new Mustang, and its look coincides with that of the iconic muscle car, revamped for the new model year. However, behind this physical resemblance lies an unprecedented level of power and sportiness.
Under the hood of the Dark Horse lurks a 5.0 L Coyote V8 engine, duplicating that of the Ford Mustang GT. It’s capable of unleashing 500 horsepower and 418 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in the history of the Mustang.
To enhance the vehicle’s performance, Ford improved this engine by creating a uniquely designed camshaft and crankshaft and combining them with rods copied from those found in the Shelby GT500. A manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic transmission relays all of this power to the rear wheels by way of a limited-slip differential. And when it’s time to stop, the big Brembo brakes do the job admirably.
While there’s no question that Ford has focused heavily on performance, the 2024 Dark Horse also offers a comfortable cockpit allying ergonomics and technology. In fact, the interior has practically nothing in common with that of the Mustangs of yesteryear. Instead, it utilizes two good-sized screens to display the SYNC 4 infotainment system and all of its components. These notably include perfect Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.
For an added touch of amusement, when you turn on the ignition, the screens play a welcome animation sequence exclusively designed for the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse.
In the center of the console, you’ll find a hand brake that operates much like a traditional mechanical brake, thus enabling greater control.
