Good news for fans of midsize pickups: you won’t have to wait much longer for the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor to arrive at your dealership. We’re looking at late summer or early fall. The same goes for the other North American versions of the Ranger (the XL, XLT and Lariat). Ford now offers three different models of vehicles that can receive the “Raptor treatment,” as the Ranger joins the ranks alongside the Bronco and the F-150.
Assembled in Michigan, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor benefits from a new reinforced chassis, which Ford has developed for the entire Ranger lineup. This longer chassis makes the vehicle more stable, while also increasing the volume of the bed. However, in terms of everything else mechanical, the Raptor is unique. It’s a powerful, high-performance beast, especially when the time comes to go to off-roading.
The Ranger Raptor boasts an exclusive powertrain: a 3 L V6 producing 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. And Ford engineers have made it so that this power is transmitted optimally to the wheels. To accomplish this, they specially designed and integrated an all-wheel drive system with various drive modes and a new electronically controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case. What’s more, you can lock the front and rear differentials to ramp up the intensity when driving under extreme conditions. Completing the picture is a ten-speed automatic transmission.
Ford also optimized the suspension according to the types of roads taken. A set of 2.5-inch Fox Live Valve shocks and a Watts link rear suspension work together to ensure the ruggedness of the 2024 Ranger Raptor. Additionally, you can choose from seven different selectable drive modes, consisting of three for on-road driving (Normal, Sport and Slippery) and four for off-roading (Rock Crawl, Sand, Mud/Ruts and Baja).
With regard to the exterior design, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor includes several successful modifications, which it appropriated from the Ford Maverick. For example, the dark-colored radiator grille features prominent lettering bookended by the two headlight clusters, each of which is offset by an LED line in the shape of a U turned on its side. Meanwhile, the metallic skid plate, which is visible from the front of the vehicle, lends it the requisite panache.
